About SAI Platform

The Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform (SAI Platform) is the global food and drink industry platform for developing sustainable agriculture solutions through member-driven pre-competitive collaboration. SAI Platform works with its members and external stakeholders to catalyse change and establish sustainable agriculture as a pre-requisite for doing business throughout the food and drink industry supply chain.

Established in 2002 by Danone, Nestlé and Unilever as a non-profit organisation, SAI Platform today has over 90 members, representing the entire food and drink value chain: farmers’ cooperatives, manufacturers, processors, and retailers. Members collaborate at a pre-competitive level.

Our key focus is on collaboration and developing practical tools which enable food and drink companies to source their agricultural raw materials in a more sustainable way. One of them is the Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) programme, developed to help produce, sell and source sustainably grown agricultural products. It has already been implemented for 39 arable commodities in 32 countries by 32 companies at tens of thousands of farms.

In 2018, the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform will hold its Annual Event in Aarhus, Denmark, with its members from across the global agricultural community as well as guest stakeholders to showcase its learnings, facilitate dialogue and foster collaborative action on shared challenges.
