Fields Visits

We would like to offer you a range of simultaneous field visits for group members to experience first-hand the various Danish food, agriculture system and farming practices with a focus on technology and innovation. The visits will take place over a day in Aarhus or Copenhagen surroundings.

 

Please note that the programme for the field visits will be regularly updated and you will receive the final version via email.

DAIRY FIELD VISIT

Date and time: April 24, from 8:00 am

Where: Aarhus and surroundings

The tour is limited to max. 40 participants on a first-come first-served basis. 

TEMPTATIVE AGENDA:

07.45 Pick up from Scandic Hotel

8.30 – 10.00 Vejlskovgaard, Odder – new stable, milking robots

11.30 – 13.30 Foulum/KFC – biorefinery – focus on protein from grass – incl. sandwich

14.00 – 15.30 (TBC)  Rasmus Nielsen farm, Højslev – focus on milking robots with activity measurement, dairy management system and CowConnect (data from feedwagon)

17.00 – 18.00 (TBC) Arla Innovation Center

18.00 – 18.30 Return to Scandic Hotel

SUGAR BEET FIELD VISIT

Date and time: April 24, from 10:00 am

Where: Copenhagen and surroundings

The sugar beet field visit, will start in Copenhagen and will includes two farm visits on the island of Zealand (Sjælland). The scope is to learn from two examples, one organic and another conventional cultivation in sugar beet farming. The visiting farmers grow sugar beet in crop rotation with barley, wheat, oil rape seed. A small discussion round will be held with the conventional farmer and representatives from Nordzucker, to share their experience with the SAI Platform Farm Sustainability Assessment programme.

Logistics information

The tour will start in Copenhagen in the morning and will finish in Aarhus in the late afternoon. Pick-up location is Copenhagen Airport. An additional pickup spot, close to the main Copenhagen train station, will be planned for participants arriving on the 23rd. Lunch will be provided during the tour. Please note that the tour will include your transfer to Aarhus, therefore you will have to bring your luggage with you. Please make sure to bring adequate clothing.

The tour is limited to max. 15 participants on a first-come first-served basis.

BEEF FIELD VISIT

NOTE: Please note that participants of this beef visit should not be in contact with animal (not including domestic ones) 24 hours before the visit to the farm.
