Dr. Varinderpal Singh is working as Senior Soil Chemist in Department of Soil Science, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. He was awarded visiting scientist award by Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi under INSA-NAST (National Academy of Science & Technology, Philippines) programme to visit various research institutes in Philippines. He was invited by International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines to design strategies for sustaining global rice production in the meeting held at Hanoi, Vietnam. He is actively involved in research on establishing need-based fertilizer N management strategies using PAU-Leaf Colour Chart and GreenSeeker optical sensor in field crops. He developed need based fertilizer nitrogen management technologies using PAU-LCC in rice, wheat, maize and basmati rice. Dr. Varinderpal Singh has outstanding contribution in developing success stories on reducing nitrogen consumption using PAU-LCC by adopting two villages in Indian Punjab. He handled twelve research projects and authored more than one hundred publications in research and extension journals.
