RAPIDLY GROWING URBAN POPULATION
24 - 27 April 2017, Beijing, China

Jeff is a 6th generation cash crop farmer from Binbrook Ontario Canada. Jeff grew up on the family farm, then after attaining a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University he worked in the industrial coatings industry. Jeff returned to the farm in 2002 and hasn’t looked back. Since then he has participated in several management courses including CTEAM from AME, and the DuPont Young Leader Program. He also sits as a Director on the board with Grain Farmers of Ontario. Jeff is married to his wife Dianne, and together they have three children.

Barlow Farms started in 1843 with oxen clearing the land. It has since grown into a 4500 acre cash-crop farm and elevator operation. The farm grows maize, wheat, and both GMO and non-GMO soybeans in the heavy clay soils of the Niagara Peninsula. If you visit the farm you will see a modern fleet of equipment using advanced precision agriculture technology. The Barlow’s believe the future of their farm lies in harnessing technology to gain efficiencies and to maximize returns on every acre using the data they collect. Barlow Farms is also focused on sustainability and that’s why an extensive use of cover crops, lime, tile drainage, and organic soil amendments are used to ensure the long term health of their soils.
